September 22, BPN. Amendments to the migration law that would toughen the issuance of residence permits to Belarusians have passed the final vote in the Latvian parliament.
The interior minister would authorize the issuance when it “corresponds with Latvia’s interests, international law or has humanitarian grounds,” Delfi reported.
Overall, academics, students, skilled workers, businesspeople and Latvians’ relatives would be eligible for residence rights.
