Apple blocks Belarusian authorities’ propaganda channels over calls for violence

September 25, BPN. Apple has requested a block of several Belarusian pro-government Telegram channels on iOS over calls for violence on September 23, said Pavel Durov, founder of the Telegram messenger application. 

These channels had a total of about 80,000 subscribers, he said, adding that several similar channels received warnings from Telegram over violations of Apple’s rules. Durov stressed that Telegram will block them on App Store and Google Play should they ignore the warning. 

The day before, iOS devices stopped displaying content of Telegram channels run by some notorious propagandists, including Ryhor Azaronak and Ksenija Lebiedzieva.
