Belarus wants 39 percent increase in oil transit tariff, Russian energy company says
November 22, BPN. Belarus has requested a 39-percent rise to the oil transit rate from January 1, arguing that the transit is expected to be cut by half, a spokesman for Russian energy company Transneft, Igor Demin, has said, as quoted by TASS.
Last year, Transneft President Nikolay Tokarev said a Belarusian subsidiary might suspend its operation over Minsk’s policies, noting that higher tax on Russian oil and oil products running through Belarus might ruin Zapad-Transnefteprodukt.
The Druzhba pipeline, operated by Zapad-Transnefteprodukt in Belarus, supplies oil to Belarusian refineries and Europe. The pipeline runs from Russia’s Samara region, passes through Bryansk and then splits into two sections to reach Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Germany and Hungary.
