Russia seizes smuggled Belarusian cigarettes worth $4.64 million

December 21, BPN. Russian customs officers have seized a large batch of smuggled Belarusian cigarettes in the Smolensk district, the Russian Federal Customs Service said on its website.

Four heavy trucks transported about three million packs of various Belarusian cigarettes without special Russian duty stamps, it added. The cargo was worth more than 320 million Russian rubles (about $4.64 million).

Russian authorities are considering criminal charges over the transportation of unmarked tobacco products.
