Opposition’s reshaped Coordination Council to meet on January 26

January 23, BPN. The Coordination Council will meet in an expanded format on January 26, the deputy head of the opposition’s cabinet, Pavieł Łatuška, has told supporters in Warsaw.

“The principle was to invite representatives of different initiatives. There will be a fairly wide representation,” Łatuška said.

The council was established in August 2020. The Belarusian government designated it an extremist group. Setting it up is one of the charges faced by opposition leaders.

Plans to reform the organization were announced in October. Its presidium member Volha Kavalkova said it would be expanded to 115 members (25 from the original council, 75 civil society delegates and 15 independents).
