Połack museum workers to be tried for sharing opposition content

March 30, BPN. Police released several arrested history museum workers, mostly women, in the evening on March 29 in Połack, Viciebsk region, a source told BPN.

Earlier, reports said that eight museum employees, including former museum head Tamara Džumantajeva and researcher Ihar Bortnik, were arrested for sharing opposition content and social media comments. Bortnik is currently held at the Navapołack detention center.

Police seized their gadgets and set trial dates.

Police also arrested Ihar Suprunionak and Kirył Smalakoŭ, photographers based in Navapołatsk, Viciebsk region.

Suprunionak, an experienced photojournalist, may face criminal charges. He had been arrested twice for alleged minor offenses. Police reportedly seek access to his photo archive.
