April 7, BPN. Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja thanked the outgoing head of the Finnish government, Sanna Marin, for her “unwavering support for free and democratic Belarus.”
Cichanoŭskaja tweeted that Marin has always inspired her with “strong leadership, courage and determination,” and expressed hope that the close cooperation with Finland would continue. She offered her best wishes for Marin’s “future endeavors.” The Finnish prime minister thanked Cichanoŭskaja in return.
Sanna Marin said she would step down as the Social Democrats’ leader after her party was defeated in a national election on April 2.
Cichanoŭskaja and Marin met three times: in March 2021, December 2021 and December 2022.
