Belarus denies border guard crossed into Lithuania

April 19, BPN. The Belarusian State Border Committee denies that a Belarusian border guard briefly crossed into Lithuania.

The Lithuanian foreign ministry on April 14 summoned a Belarusian diplomat to protest in the strongest terms against “repeated violations” of Lithuania’s border. The move came after the border officer crossed into Lithuania on April 12, according to the ministry’s press office.

The Belarusian committee said the section of the border where the alleged incident occurred has “certain specifics” distorting CCTV footage.

It added that Lithuania is trying to agitate the media, discredit Belarus, and “aggravate the situation on the border under any pretext.”
