Authorities brand resistance group, two media outlets extremist groups

December 5, Pozirk. On November 29, the Committee for State Security (KGB) blacklisted 6TV, a regional station, and its branch Mahiloŭ Miedyja as an extremist group, according to the interior ministry’s website.

The KGB identified Uładzimir Łapcevič, Dźmitryj Sałaŭjoŭ and Alaksandar Burakoŭ as members of the group and listed 6TV-associated websites 6tv.by, mogilev.media and mogilev.news as well as its social media accounts.

On the same day, the KGB also assigned the extremist label to the BelPol resistance group, formed as a result of a split in the ByPol association of former security officers this summer. Authorities named Andrej Astapovič, Uładzimir Žyhar, Maciej Kuprejčyk and Alaksandar Kabanaŭ as its members.

The KGB claimed that they “carry out extremist activities” online via belpol.pro and BelPol social media accounts.

The interior ministry has branded popular Belarusian sports portal Tribuna.com Belarus as an extremist group, listing its websites by.tribuna.com, bytribuna.global and mirror sites as well as social media accounts and apps for Android and iOS. Earlier, Tribuna‘s publications were branded extremist content.
