April 8, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka has appointed former information minister Uładzimir Piarcoŭ as the first deputy head of his administration in charge of the information sector.
“Ideological work is in the spotlight today,” his press office quoted him as saying. New appointments in the administration should help refocus and build a stronger structure, the Belarusian ruler said, noting the need to “put in order all the media.” He also suggested that Piarcoŭ set up a corresponding committee.
Piarcoŭ holds degrees from the Viciebsk State University and the Academy of Management. Before his appointment as information minister, he worked at regional broadcasters and headed the Belarusian branch of Russia’s Mir TV channel.
