BySol helps language advocacy activists flee Belarus
October 25, Pozirk. The BySol Solidarity Foundation has helped Ihar Słučak and Alina Nahornaja, prominent Belarusian language advocacy activists, to leave Belarus together with their children.
“It was a special evacuation with complex and dramatic decisions, complicated by the fact that Ihar and Alina have managed to achieve a lot while in Belarus up until recently,” Andrej Stryžak of BySol said on Facebook. “The story about their life in the last three years is a dramatic adventure thriller and deserves a separate book.”
The activists, known for defending and promoting the use of the Belarusian language, stayed in Belarus as long as it was possible without being arrested and continued their involvement in human rights activities, Stryžak noted.
