Kyiv affronts Łukašenka for insulting Zelensky

March 15, Pozirk. “Insults against the head of the Ukrainian state are unacceptable, especially from an accomplice to the crime of aggression against Ukraine,” said Heorhii Tykhyi.
The Ukrainian foreign ministry spokesman took to X to comment on Alaksandar Łukašenka’s derogatory remarks about Volodymyr Zelensky.
Asked by a Russian propagandist yesterday what he thought of the Ukrainian president, Łukašenka said: “Volodya was like a son to me, but he acted like a nit (Rus.: gnida; a louse’s egg). So what should I call him? Well, it was probably not nice of me, but it was accurate. You can’t act like that . . . I always explained this world to him the way I understood it, I advised him. But you see, he didn’t listen to me. Had he listened, the situation would have been different.”
“Stepping into the field of entomology will definitely not benefit the cockroach,” Tykhyi said in Belarusian, clearly referring to Łukašenka, who was often compared to a cockroach by protesters in 2020.
Łukašenka’s remarks seem to be a reference to an earlier occasion when he insulted Zelensky. On March 7, 2023, the Belarusian ruler also called Ukraine’s leader a nit, accusing him of authorizing sabotage at the Mačuliščy military airfield near Minsk.
