Opposition leader stresses common future for Belarus, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine
October 6, Pozirk. The peoples of Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine and Belarus share a common heritage and future as well as the same values, Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja said in her video address to the Lublin Four Forum.
The politician noted that Lithuanians and Poles “were the first who lent a helping hand to Belarusians” in 2020.
“We are part of European civilization,” she stressed. “When Belarus and Ukraine become EU members, Russian attempts to restore the empire will be doomed to fail.”
She urged the Forum participants to support the struggle of Belarusians for freedom, describing it as “an investment in our safe, prosperous, and democratic European future.”
The Forum taking place in Vilnius from October 5 to 7 serves as a platform for discussions among politicians, public intellectuals, and journalists from East Central Europe. Founded in 2021 an an extension of the Lublin Triangle of Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine, it focuses on strengthening academic, cultural and political cooperation in the region.
