Lithuania entities employ 7,500 Belarusians who arrived amid Ukraine war

August 19, BPN. Entities in Lithuania employ 7,500 Belarusians who arrived in the country after Russia had invaded Ukraine, Delfi.lt reports, quoting the Lithuanian Employment Service.

Most of them, 88 percent, are men. The average age is 37, and the average gross salary is €1.786. Most work in Vilnius (4,200 people) and Kaunas (600 people). Belarusians also went to Šiauliai, Klaipėda and other cities.

Some 2,000 people occupy senior positions. Of them, 1,700 are in the IT/communications sector. Intermediate qualifications are applied by 5.500 Belarusians, and primary qualifications by only 86 Belarusians (cleaners, kitchen assistants, packers).

The website noted that workers from Belarus and Ukraine paid almost €10mn in taxes in July 2022.
