Minsk man resists arrest with an axe, police say

September 2, BPN. A Minsk man accused of inciting hatred faces criminal charges for an attempted murder of a policeman after resisting an arrest with an axe, senior police official Mikałaj Pasinicki has said.

He noted that the suspect was initially identified as a Telegram messenger user who posted threats to police officers in November 2020.

The interior ministry’s press office has posted a video showing the suspect, whose name is not disclosed and whose face is blurred, admitting to threatening police officers in a Telegram chat under the influence of alcohol and apologizing for it.
