Opposition’s defense representative “examined and recovers” amid poisoning report

September 6, BPN. The Belarusian opposition’s security chief has certain health problems, Hanna Krasulina, a spokeswoman for opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja, has told BPN.

Valeryj Sachaščyk “is examined and recovers,” and the opposition continues its work regardless, she added, commenting on a Naša Niva report.

On September 5, Naša Niva wrote that the lieutenant general had been hospitalized twice recently: straight after an opposition conference, held in Vilnius on August 8-9, and about a week ago, after he had passed out while driving.

Sachaščyk might have been poisoned and is now in Berlin’s Charité Hospital, the online newspaper wrote. It is the very same clinic where Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny was treated for Novichok nerve agent poisoning, it added.
