Television shapes Belarusians’ perception of war – pollster

September 9, BPN. An online poll by Belarus Initiative has revealed that 51 percent of respondents watch Russian or Belarusian state-run television channels, the initiative’s head Ryhor Astapienia said on September 9.

They use them as sources of news on a daily basis or several times a week. Some 48 percent say they get information from independent Belarusian media.

The results also indicate that regular television watchers tend to be more pro-war: 76 percent support Russia’s military action in Ukraine, against 17 percent among regular independent media readers.

Belarus Initiative is a program at Chatham House, a high-profile British think tank.
