Chișinău summons Belarus envoy over Łukašenka’s foreign affairs remark

September 19, BPN. The Moldovan foreign ministry has summoned Belarusian envoy Anatol Kalinin over Alaksandr Łukašenka’s recent remark about prospects of a major European conflict, Ziarul de Gardă reports.

Moldova regrets that Belarus plays a role in propagating Russia’s war in Ukraine and spreading disinformation and fake news, the ministry said.

Moldovan nationals strongly condemn the war, it added.

Łukašenka’s remarks were previously critiсized by Moldova’s neighbor Romania, which delivered a formal note of protest to the Belarusian chargé d’affaires.

On September 17, Łukašenka accused the United States of being the sole beneficiary of the current war, trying to subjugate Europe and get rid of all other competitors. He said that “today it’s Ukraine, tomorrow it will be Moldova or the Baltic States, Poland or Romania.”
