Belarusian security chief: “Mobilization is not about us, we are already mobilized”
September 21, BPN. Security Council head Alaksandr Valfovič has said there will be no mobilization in Belarus.
“Mobilization is not about us, we are already mobilized,” he said in Moscow, as quoted by the website of Belarus’ ONT television channel.
“And we are ready – of course, God forbid – to repel an attack with the forces and means intended for this purpose. With the power bloc and the peacetime personnel that today perform tasks to defend their country and the constitutional order on its territory,” he added.
The remarks came hours after Moscow announced a plan to call up 300,000 reservists in a bid to reverse setbacks in the war in Ukraine.
Against this backdrop, senior security officials from Belarus and Russia are holding bilateral security consultations in Moscow.
One day earlier, Alaksandr Łukašenka emphasized the importance of checking Belarusian troops’ readiness.
