At least three Aŭtuchovič case defendants in solitary confinement

September 22, BPN. At least three defendants in the high-profile case involving outspoken critics of the Alaksandr Łukašenka regime, known as the Aŭtuchovič case, are held in punishment cells, including Mikałaj Aŭtuchovič.

Uładzimir Hundar has been in solitary confinement since September 17. This is his fourth time there since the start of the trial, his wife Alena Hundar told BPN.

Volha Majorava, another defendant, will stay in the punishment cell until September 25. She is likely face another seven days in confinement, Alena Hundar said.

The reasons for punishment remain unknown.

Aŭtuchovič’s daughter Kaciaryna recently said that her father was in solitary confinement for ten days. He might have gone on hunger strike there for the second time since the start of the trial.

The trial of Mikałaj Aŭtuchovič and 12 others opened at a Hrodna prison on May 18. The Committee for the State Security (KGB) accused them of involvement in terrorism.

Human rights community declared eight defendants in the case political prisoners.
