Belarusian foreign minister says Belarus not at war with Ukraine, calls for unity
September 22, BPN. Belarus “is not a party to the Ukrainian conflict and has always provided a platform for a peaceful dialogue,” Foreign Minister Uładzimir Makiej told his counterpart from the Non-Aligned Movement at a September 21 meeting in New York.
The meeting was a part of the UN General Assembly events, the foreign ministry’s press office said.
Makiej urged non-aligned countries to unite and take on the leading role in solving the current international crisis, warning that otherwise, any small country “may become another victim of selfish interests of the West.”
Makiej also assured the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) foreign ministers that Belarus “will oppose the discriminatory practices in the UN,” manifested in the “so-called cancel culture” and arbitrary exclusion of states from international bodies.
He said that Alaksandr Łukašenka had proposed launching a global dialogue for a clear and transparent new world order.
