Protestant pastor arrested, fined

September 23, BPN. A court in Belarus has fined Protestant Pastor Antoni Bokun 3,200 rubels, some $1,300 at the current exchange rate.

The head of the John the Forerunner Church has already returned home, Christian Democrat activist Dzianis Sadoŭski said on Facebook. He did not clarify why the spiritual leader had been detained.

Law enforcers arrested Pastor Bokun on September 22 in the church.

Reprisals against Christian figures have been more frequent since the disputed 2020 presidential election.
