Belarus bans grain exports for six months

September 24, BPN. Belarus has imposed a six-month ban on exports of wheat, rye, barley, oats, corn, buckwheat and other cereals, the Council of Ministers said in a directive adopted on September 23.

The ban applies even to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries, except for “international humanitarian” reasons and transit via Belarus.

Alaksandr Łukašenka described 2022 as “a serious test for all grain growers” in Belarus in his speech at the harvest festival in the Minsk region on September 24. A day earlier, he praised an “unprecedented harvest” and said that Belarus was facing no threats to food security.
