Łukašenka praises KGB for loyalty

December 20, BPN. Committee for State Security (KGB) effectively “counteract sophisticated technologies that destroy states,” Alaksandr Łukašenka said in his congratulatory message to the KGB on the occasion of State Security Day.

The duty of the secret services is “to serve the motherland, continuing the glorious traditions of the legendary agency, guarding peace and security of the people,” he said.

“I thank all those who have not wavered in difficult times, who have remained faithful to the values and traditions of the special service, standing up for the national interests of Belarus,” the message reads.

In June, Łukašenka said he was thinking of expanding the KGB’s powers, citing “hybrid warfare unleashed not only against Belarus.”
