January 13, BPN. The Hrodna Regional Council of Deputies has introduced a fee of one base rate (currently 37 rubels or about $14) for crossing the state border in the region, following a similar decision by the Viciebsk region’s authorities.
The new rule takes effect on February 1 and will be valid until January 1, 2025, says a directive published on the National Legal Internet Portal.
The fee will not apply to public officials traveling on business, foreigners arriving in Belarus at the invitation of government agencies, or allowed to enter Belarus without a visa, as well as persons traveling abroad for medical reasons.
Belarus’ Hrodna region borders Lithuania and Poland.
