January 24, BPN. A new interdepartmental commission will deal with political émigrés who wish to return to Belarus, Alaksandr Łukašenka has told officials.
It will include members of the public, MPs and officials, said Prosecutor General Andrej Švied, its chair.
Belarusians who are staying abroad and willing to return home, but are afraid of something, can contact the commission for advice, he noted.
At the January 24 meeting, Łukašenka said that authorities may allow political migrants to return if they ask him for pardon or repent for disloyalty. Authorities should take a step towards those who made a mistake, regret about it, and are “ready to live in peace,” he stressed.
