January 28, Pozirk. Economic and military-industrial cooperation have dominated the talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Alaksandar Łukašenka has said in a comment about their meeting in Russia’s St. Petersburg.

“We are not hiding anything,” his press office cited him as saying. ” We have discussed many problems and thought about how to develop further . . .  taking into account this bitter experience of the special military operation [Russia’s war in Ukraine].”

The upcoming meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Russia and Belarus on January 29 will further focus on deepening ties between both countries, the Belarusian ruler added.

Putin praised the pace of bilateral cooperation, noting successes in trade, business and investments, the Kremlin’s press office said. He also noted industrial cooperation as well as ties in agriculture, research, education and culture.

This evening, both leaders will discuss relations within the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Eurasian Economic Union, Putin added.

Łukašenka arrived in St. Petersburg yesterday. He is expected to participate in the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State on January 29.

A few days ago, Łukašenka told Union State Secretary Dmitry Mezentsev that he was looking forward to a “serious and principled” discussion of union programs.
