Pro-government Liberal Democratic Party set to expand economic ties with South Sudan

February 6, Pozirk. A government delegation from South Sudan has arrived in Belarus for a three-day visit at the invitation of the Liberal Democratic Party, its chairman Aleh Hajdukievič said on Telegram.
The delegation reportedly includes the ministers of investment and healthcare. The visit focuses on trade and economic ties, Hajdukievič noted, adding that the delegation will meet with Belarusian MPs.
Belarus established diplomatic relations with South Sudan in September 2013, about two years after the latter proclaimed its independence, which followed civil wars and secession from Sudan.
Bilateral trade is negligible, according to data from open sources. In 2020, it amounted to $175,000 while the most recent data is unavailable.
The Liberal Democratic Party is one of the four political parties granted re-registration in 2023 along with the Biełaja Ruś party of Alaksandar Łukašenka’s supporters and the pro-government Communist Party of Belarus and Republican Party of Labor and Justice.
