Łukašenka says interested in all markets, West to buy mineral fertilizers
August 22, BPN. Belarusian leader Alaksandr Łukašenka has expressed interest in any export markets, arguing that the West will buy mineral fertilizers to prevent hunger.
“I have already said that we should not discard any markets,” he told Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Parchomčyk on August 22.
“If we can work in the west, we will work in the west. Or in the south, north and east – we need to work wherever they need us or our products. Do we have a gigantic economy like Russia? No. Our economy is compact. Our products, food and mineral fertilizers, are needed everywhere, especially now. In order to prevent hunger, the West will also buy these fertilizers. And it is close. Therefore, we should not reject any markets,” he said.
Belarusian potash, an important compound for agricultural fertilizers, remains under heavy Western sanctions.
