Łukašenka wants to boost ties with Moldova amid “rising tensions” in Europe
August 27, BPN. Belarusian-Moldovan relations have always been based on “respect and mutually beneficial partnership,” reads Alaksandr Łukašenka’s message on the occasion of Moldovan Independence Day.
“I am sure that strengthening of economic and cultural ties will preserve the traditions of good-neighborliness and friendly support amid rising tensions in the European region,” Łukašenka’s press office quotes him as saying.
According to the Belarusian embassy in Moldova, trade between Belarus and Moldova amounted to $252.7 million in 2021, with Belarusian exports at $180.7 million and imports from Moldova at $72 million.
Belarus exported medicines, timber, glass, tiles, and dairy. A large share of exports, almost $66 million, was linked to military products. Moldova sold wines, fruit, vegetables, and steel products.
