Official notes decline of scientific contacts with West over sanctions

August 29, BPN. The long-established scientific contacts are declining due to sanctions, Siarhiej Šłyčkoŭ, chair of the State Committee for Science and Technology, told STV.

“We keep implementing some European Union-initiated projects due to be completed in 2024-2025,” he said. “But this is a road to nowhere. Unfortunately, there will be no winners here. Broken ties between scientists usually make everyone suffer.”

Šłyčkoŭ also said that Belarus plans to increase state funding for scientific research and technology by up to 25 percent to 506 million rubels (about $198 million).
