Cichanoŭskaja says authorities moved to seize her Minsk apartment
September 6, BPN. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja says authorities have issued a freezing order prohibiting her and her husband Siarhiej Cichanoŭski from selling their Minsk apartment.
“Now they confiscated our apartment in Minsk & prepared to sell everything – right down to the watercolors of our children. There are hundreds of similar stories from political prisoners whose property was stolen,” Cichanoŭskaja has tweeted.
“They took stock of everything up to the children’s watercolors to sell it and get money for the treasury,” she posted on Telegram on September 6. “Right now, Homiel’s seized property shops are selling the equipment with which Siarhiej was detained on May 29, 2020. And there are thousands like Siarhiej in Belarus.”
On December 14, 2021 Cichanoŭski was sentenced to 18 years in prison on rioting charges.
