Kremlin: no plans for bilateral meeting between Putin, Łukašenka at Bishkek summit

October 11, Pozirk. “There are no plans for a bilateral meeting” between Vladimir Putin and Alaksandar Łukašenka at the Commonwealth of Independent States summit scheduled for October 13, said Yuriy Ushakov, an aide to the Russian president.

“The two presidents have quite close contacts. They met in person many times this year, and they often talk on the phone,” he said, as quoted by RIA Novosti.

On October 3, the Belarusian ruler announced that he would meet with Putin during the summit in Bishkek.

He said they would discuss in detail joint projects on the production and maintenance of aircraft, the possible construction of a second railway line to the Leningrad province, and ways to improve the transit of Belarusian goods through Russia.

The last time they met was on September 15 in Sochi.
