Latvian parliament votes to suspend three deals with Belarus

September 15, BPN. A decision to suspended three bilateral agreements with Belarus, namely on border area residents’ unrestrained movement, on mutual assistance in customs matters and on air traffic, have passed the second and final vote in the Latvian parliament.

The head of the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs, Rihards Kols, said Russia launched a war of aggression against Ukraine, and its forces attacked from Belarus.

According to the committee, Belarus grossly violated international law.

The treaties would be suspended on October 10 until Belarus stops the violations and fully compensates Ukraine for the infringements.

Kols stressed that Latvia faithfully fulfilled its obligations under all three agreements.
