Romania outraged by Łukašenka’s statement accusing USA of warmongering in Eastern Europe

September 19, BPN. The Belarusian chargé d’affaires in Bucharest has received a note of protest and has been summoned to the Romanian foreign ministry following Alaksandr Łukašenka’s statement that the United States is pushing Europe to start a military clash with Russia in Ukraine and in other countries, including Romania.

In the protest note, the ministry said that Romania categorically rejected such unacceptable statements, which feed the rhetoric based on calls for the use of force and threat of the use of force in international relations.

Romania stressed that it was impossible to ignore the international role and responsibility of Belarus as Russia’s accomplice in the war against Ukraine. It also noted that Romania was a NATO member with collective defense security guarantees.

On September 17, Łukašenka accused the United States of being the sole beneficiary of the current war, trying to subjugate Europe and get rid of all other competitors. According to him, “today it’s Ukraine, tomorrow it will be Moldova or the Baltic States, Poland or Romania.”
