Łukašenka looking forward to top-level talks with China, eager to discuss military-technical cooperation

September 22, BPN. Belarus and China have agreed to hold top-level talks to discuss “further cooperation in the economic and military-political spheres,” Alaksandr Łukašenka said on September 21.

The meeting is to be held after the 20th congress of the Chinese Communist Party, he told Yang Jianqiang, deputy president of China’s CITIC Construction, Łukašenka’s press office reported.

The congress is scheduled for October 16.

The Belarusian leader made it clear that he was enthusiastic about the Chinese company’s plans “to work in Belarus and build a number of enterprises using the latest technologies.” CITIC Construction has a presence in Belarus since 2007.

Łukašenka last week met with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s (SCO) summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
