Opposition leader pledges to advocate Belarusians’ interests in Germany

November 8, Pozirk. Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja said she will propose to the German authorities to set up a working group to assist Belarusians in Germany.

The opposition leader made the statement at a rally in central Berlin last night attended by about 100 people, her aide Franak Viačorka told Pozirk.

Germany plans to recognize expired Belarusian passports and is now looking for an opportunity to extend the terms of residence permits and to issue foreigners’ IDs, Cichanoŭskaja said, commenting on her recent discussions with German officials.

On November 7, MPs from 22 countries established an international alliance of the parliamentary groups that support democratic Belarus, she noted.
