November 24, Pozirk. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has addressed Belarusians via YouTube urging them to “avoid participating in regime’s events.”

The politician described the upcoming parliamentary and local elections as an unjust ritual that does not mean anything. “The dictator [Alaksandar Łukašenka] is trying to consolidate his power under the guise of a democratic process,” she noted.

Belarusian authorities plan to hold elections for the National Assembly’s lower house and local councils on February 25, 2024.

Not a single election held in Belarus since 1996 was up to standards for democratic, free and fair elections, according to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
