Opposition leader promotes Belarusian studies at Yale University

December 5, Pozirk. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja suggested establishing a Belarusian center and a scholarship program for Belarusian students at Yale University, her aide Franak Viačorka has told Pozirk.

On December 4, the politician addressed Yale students and the academic community and met with Timothy Snyder, a renowned history professor and expert on Eastern Europe.

Cichanoŭskaja described her vision of the US strategy for Belarus and spoke about Belarusian-Ukrainian relations.

Her visit to the United States is expected to last five days.

On December 5, she will take part in the hearing “The Future of Freedom and Democracy in Belarus,” held by the Subcommittee on Europe of the Committee on Foreign Relations at the Congress.

The first session of the strategic dialogue between the United States and Belarusian opposition is scheduled for December 6 and 7 at the US Department of State.
