Belarusian volunteer fighter Aŭdziej dies in Ukraine

May 18, Pozirk. Belarusian volunteer fighter Alaksiej Aŭdziej, call sign Ryžy, has been killed in action in Ukraine, the Belarusian Volunteer Corps (BVC) said on Telegram.

This is the death he longed for, the BVC said, describing him as eccentric, sincere and unstoppable.

Aŭdziej, 26, was on a combat mission in the Kupiansk area.

The native of Belarus’ Kleck district participated in the post-election protests in 2020, was jailed and later emigrated.

When Russia attempted to occupy the whole of Ukraine, Aŭdziej joined the Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment, but later was transferred to the BVC.

According to media reports, at least 65 Belarusian volunteers have died in battles against Russia since the start of the full-scale war.
