BySol announces fundraiser for opposition politician Cichanoŭski’s rehabilitation

July 18, Pozirk. Siarhiej Cichanoŭski, a former presidential hopeful, has appealed for donations after his surprise release from prison last month, according to the BySol Solidarity Foundation.
“My wife is the pro-democracy leader, but that doesn’t mean that my resources are unlimited or that my health problems will automatically be solved,” said Cichanoŭski, who was released on June 21 after a meeting between the US special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, and Alaksandar Łukašenka.
“My recovery is challenging, as it is for anyone who has been through prison,” Cichanoŭski said. He added that he wants to improve his health regain strength and “continue to be useful.”
The target is €8,000. The entire amount is intended for rehabilitation, including tests, doctor consultations, prosthetic teeth and vision correction.
The fundraiser will last 60 days. More than €2,500 has already been collected.
