February 7, Pozirk. Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja, Belarus’ exiled opposition leader, has said she will remain in politics for as long as it takes to secure a free and fair presidential election, but does not plan to run herself.
Cichanoŭskaja, who maintains that Alaksandar Łukašenka stole her victory in the 2020 presidential election, made the remarks during a question-and-answer session in Warsaw on February 7.
“As long as Belarusians listen to me, and as long as our foreign partners listen to me, trust me, and work with me, I will stay where I am,” she said.
However, she added that she would not rule out running in an election for the leadership of the pro-democracy opposition.
