Vilnius urges Minsk to refute KGB chief’s allegations

April 26, Pozirk. Lithuania’s foreign ministry has summoned Belarusian chargé d’affaires Jarasłaŭ Chmyl to express a strong protest in connection with April 25 statements by Committee for State Security (KGB) chief Ivan Tertel, who accused Lithuania of being behind an alleged drone attack on Belarus.
Tertel told delegates at the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly the previous day that his agency had prevented drone attacks from Lithuania targeting facilities in Minsk and its surroundings. He did not present any evidence to prove the claim.
“Such statements by representatives of the Belarusian regime have nothing to do with reality,” Vilnius noted, referring to Tertel’s claims as “unsubstantiated insinuations.”
Vilnius demanded that Minsk immediately “refute the disinformation,” noting that Lithuania would take all possible measures to protect its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
